BMC has asked to apply online to reduce the crowd at the immersion site, officials said. It is also asked to determine the time of immersion. It is estimated that more than 50 lakh people took to the streets on the day of Ganesh Immersion last year.
But this year the guidelines are stricter. BMC has appealed not to hold any Ganpati program in public in the containment zone.

Mumbai Municipal Corporation has informed that a mobile Ganesh idol collection center will also be started at the divisional level this year. There are a total of 70 natural immersion sites in Mumbai. This year, 167 artificial immersion sites have been created, five times more than last year.
Permission has also been granted to construct temporary immersion sites in the containment zone in the premises of Sosta. Mobile immersion sites have also been set up at the departmental level. Considering the situation of Corona, the municipality has said that it will be mandatory to immerse the idol completely this year avoiding the crowd.
It should be used by people living 1 to 2 km from natural immersion sites as well as artificial immersion sites. Citizens will not be able to immerse themselves directly in such natural immersion sites.
Idol collection will be arranged at this place. The rules also say that the idols will be immersed in that place by the municipality.
The arrival of the household Ganapati is done every year on or before the day of installation. However, considering the condition of the corona this year, the idols should arrive three to four days before Ganesh Chaturthi 2020, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has appealed.
